Wow! by Sean Kennedy – B+. This brand new release from Sean Kennedy feels like a little bit of a departure – for one thing, it’s a bit hotter than I’m used to from him (not a complaint). Although it’s not super explicit there are certainly more than kisses.
Mark Hodges works in a bank during the week, but on Saturday nights, he dons drag and becomes “Allotta Moxie” who struts her stuff on stage at a local gay bar, lip-syncing to ABBA, Kylie and other icons. In the past, revealing Allotta to a boyfriend has led to the demise of the relationship so he’s cautious about who he tells and when.
Mark has a crush on Joel, a new employee (not a direct report so nothing icky here) at the bank but he’s shy and lacks confidence. Allotta has a distinct personality. Over at AudioGals: A few of our favourite things. Caz and I share our Best of 2017 in audiobooks.
I’m over at Dear Author with my Best of 2017 list. This list only covers digital/paper books. (My best of post for audiobooks will be posted at AudioGals – watch for it toward the end of January.)
I’m over at Dear Author with a list of my favourite DA-reviewed reads for the year. I had so many great books to choose from – which just goes to prove that not everything sucked in 2016.
I’ll be posted my favourites out of the DA-reviewed books over there and my favourite audiobooks reviewed at AudioGals will be going up over there – but this is where I mention the books I read and loved and reviewed here. Most of my favourites this year were reviewed at Dear Author or AudioGalsĀ as it happens but there were two books which I reviewed only here and which stood out to me so much that they deserved to get a special mention.
Completely different books but both brilliant – and also: Australian for extra bonus points. You can read my review of Summer Skin here and of Illuminae here.
I wish you all the joy of the festive season. However you celebrate, if you celebrate, stay safe and stay strong. Catch you in 2017.
